Pentax 67 mount was developed by Pentax in the late 1960s for their 1969 release of a 6\u00d77 medium format camera, the 6X7. It has two bayonet mounts, an inner and an outer mount. The inner mount has three tabs, the outer mount has four symmetrical arranged tabs allowing the use of heavier telephoto lenses and enabling them to be mounted in any of the four positions. Consequently, outer mount lenses do not have automatic aperture linkage, only stop-down metering can be used with those lenses. It has an 84.95mm focal flange distance, and a throat diameter of 72mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first generation of lenses had a standard multi-coating and was named “Super-Takumar”. Following the same improvements as in 35mm format lenses, after introducing seven-layer coating, they were labelled as “Super-Multi-Coated Takumar”. Again, following the change in 35mm format, from M42 screw-mount to K-mount, and dropping the Takumar branding, lenses were labelled as “smc Pentax”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lenses mostly have automatic aperture linkages, except 75mm shift, 120mm soft-focus, 600mm and 800mm lenses due to their rack-and-pinion focusing system, all outer-bayonet lenses, and finally, the 1000mm catadioptric lens has no adjustable aperture at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Compared to the usual 35mm film format, the crop factor of Pentax 67 mount lenses is approximately 0.5\u00d7, due to aspect ratio differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
