The Z mount is a lens mount designed by Mamiya in 1980 for 35mm film cameras. It is a bayonet mount with three tabs, mechanical aperture linkage, and electronic contacts, with a focal flange distance of 45.5mm. Lenses have an aperture ring, but it is not coupled mechanically; the aperture is controlled electronically by the camera, and the camera can override the aperture ring position.
Mamiya Z-mount lenses should not be confused with Nikon Z-mount lenses.

EF lenses have an additional distance encoder built-in and pass focusing distance information to the body, enabling advanced flash automation.

Osawa lenses
Osawa was the only other manufacturer producing lenses in the Z mount in significant numbers. The same lenses were available in other mounts, as well. Osawa lenses often have colourful front markings, either yellow and white or orange and yellow, making them visually stand out.
Some Osawa lenses have almost identical technical characteristics as Mamiya-Sekor-E lenses (except weight), indicating potential rebranding.
